How Broadway imagines Africa

The New Yorker – It’s notable that a new play that has just opened on Broadway tells an African story with seriousness, subtlety, and fine-grained familiarity. “Eclipsed,” by the Iowa-born and Zimbabwe-raised playwright Danai Gurira, ran at the Public last fall and has transferred to Broadway’s Golden Theatre, under the direction of Liesl Tommy.
